
ENVI Developes New Hybrid
February 24, 2008The Detroit News says that Chrysler is creating a new unit to develop “green” cars and trucks.
ENVI, short for environment, will research and produce hybrid vehicles under the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands. The vehicles will be conceived and developed as hybrids, rather than taking existing models and outfitting them with hybrid powertrains.
Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli said, “The creation of ENVI allows us to focus on the development of a new generation of environmentally responsible Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles,” .
Chrysler ,General Motors, Daimler and BMW to produce a new hybrid engine system, its first two-mode gas-electric hybrids. It should show up first in the larger SUV’s Durango and Aspen producing a 40% improvement in your city driving.
