The ad you are currently running is insulting to the public and anyone who has been a salesman! Everyone has “72 hours buyers regret” Respect the buying public! you are not making ANY exceptional offer on your daddy behalf. We all must honor the “all ready written” law.
Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to visit our blog. I understand your concern and you are correct that it is a common misconception that the 72 hour right of return or right of rescission applies to automobile sales. This law was written to cover house call sales primarily such as when the encyclopedia salesperson or vacuum cleaner salesperson knocked on your door. It is commonly called the “Home Solicitation Rule”. Generally speaking, any ability to alter a car purchase after the fact is is based on a contract that can not be fulfilled. Since there was not a completed purchase, it can be modified. This is similar to when people leave with a car and think it is a completed sale, only to get a call in a couple of days saying that they need to bring the car back because the bank is unable to fund it. The other time is based on the policies of the dealer that allow it such as ours. Some other dealerships have offered that you can “exchange” but not just return a vehicle. Most of these policies, including ours, only cover pre-owned vehicles and new car purchases are still final at the time of delivery pending factors such as funding or other contract issues. Feel free to contact the DOJ’s Consumer Fraud Division at 503-378-4732 for more information about Oregon law concerning this matter. If you want more information, you can contact me direct and I can give you the number of the lawyer for the Oregon Auto Dealers Association and he would be willing to talk with you as well. Again, thank you for visiting our blog and we look forward to working with you in the future.
