Ford is now offering a Special Service Vehicle package for the 2016 Ford F-150s. The pickups are technically available to any of the company’s fleet customers, but the automaker admits in its announcement “law enforcement makes up a large portion of Special Service Vehicle purchases, so Ford added F-150 to satisfy a complete range of police needs.”
The Special Service Vehicle package makes the F-150 more resilient in the face of hard police duties. The upgrades include a high-output 240-amp alternator, vinyl floors that are easy to clean, and a vinyl-covered rear bench seat. The center console is also removable depending on how fleets want to modify the truck. Ford offers the package on the SuperCrew and SuperCab bodies for the F-150. Customers can order them with rear- or four-wheel drive, and power comes either the 5.0-liter V8 or 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6.
This hard-working truck joins the popular Police Interceptor Utility and Sedan among the Blue Oval’s LEO-ready offerings. The company also offers an Expedition Special Service Vehicle and a Transit Prisoner Transport.
